EPA names NSF partner to certify toilets
NSF International in mid-March announced its participation in a new certification program designed to verify the performance of high-efficiency toilets, which can save up to 900 billion gal. of water each year, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The effort is a key part of EPA's new WaterSense program, which recently approved NSF's participation in the program as an independent, product-certification organization...

Ask FSB: How can I form an advisory board?
To tackle strategic questions such as growth, someone with investment-banking expertise would be helpful. A fellow business owner whose marketing savvy you admire might be another smart choice. Explain that you'd like to ask them for advice now and then. They'll probably be flattered...

OMB plans new guidance to increase competition for government contracts
The Office of Management and Budget plans to issue new guidance that will increase competition in contracting, a senior White House official said today. The guidance would mandate agencies to get offers from multiple vendors when they want to place large task orders through a multiple award contract, said Paul Denett, OMB administrator of procurement policy. “Occasionally, I learn of one [task order] where they give it to one vendor, and in my mind that is not competition,” Denett said following a speech at the GSA Expo here...

Spring is always a great time of year! Plants begin to pop out of the ground, birds start building their nests, weather in the Northern states begins to warm up a bit, and everyone feels better about leaving the office to visit new prospects.
Looking at my schedule for April, it is gratifying to see that business is picking up steam once again, and our people in the field tell me that our referrals and back log on new transactions are also picking up. One reason for the increase in activity is that we, here at RMPI, are doing quite a bit of business in the construction arena.
Our Contractor Financing program has really taken off, and new projects are being funded all over the country as the weather improves. Some of our Referral Sources are finding it easier to unearth deals in this market and have turned to RMPI to either finance the transaction, or monitor their new construction deals by utilizing our RMS program.
We are excited and encouraged by the industries acceptance of these programs, and look forward to planting and growing new relationships in the 2nd quarter of 2007. My goal this Spring is to visit with a number of our new clients to see how things are going.
I also plan to visit with our more seasoned clients to make sure we are doing what is necessary to help them continue to grow their businesses, and of course, to keep them on the books.
In our next newsletter, I will let you know just how well Spring turned out for RMPI. In the meantime, get out into the field and cultivate some new deals of your own!
